Today was the day that all the little tweaks and edits to the album mixes were getting done.
As I am now back in Brisbane and the mixing is happening in LA all the songs as they were completed, were going to be emailed to me so I could ultimately make sure I was happy with everything. At first I though I should stay close to home so I could keep an eye on my email and listen to everything in my little home studio, but then I though of a better idea. I set out this morning with a set of studio headphones and a fully charged iPhone.
The first mix came through as I was driving. The second while standing in the street in Paddington. Another while having lunch in the Valley and more still while exploring the dusty corners of Brisbane guitar shops. Every half an hour or so another mix.
I have to admit, most of the day was spent either in, or driving between guitar shops, but can you think of a better way to listen to the final mixes of your new album for the very first time.
Tomorrow the album will be mastered. All that’s left now is the artwork.
